It was a Sunday morning; the cool wet Washington layer covered the outside as the sun rose. It had been 26 hours of labor and that first moment my baby was placed into my arms, beneath the bright OR lights, relief and unfathomed love was captured. Because of unforeseen circumstances, a handful of images make up most of my memories of that day. Fresh details, emotions and the way his tiny body fit on my chest covered in chest leads, created a drive I had never had before.

Being welcomed into your birth space is an honor. Telling your story isn't just the moment your baby takes their first breath. I want you to remember the time of day, what the hospital looked like, and the way the walk from the car to triage was in the early hours of the morning in total darkness and the glow of the entrance lit your way. I want you to see the way your husband held you in his arms as you endured the hardest contraction yet or the way your babies tiny body fit in his hands perfectly as he caught them. Birth is a journey of becoming parents for the first or fourth time. Birth is overcoming your lowest of lows with your birth team by your side.
Birth is a story from early labor to the first latch or meeting brother or sister for the first time. I am here to capture all of the details in between. I am here to not only capture details but to be your biggest cheerleader. I am by your side when you need emotional support or a drink of water while pushing, but I am also quiet off in the distance when you need a break. I am here to serve you as if you were my sister or best friend and honor your birth.
hello baby session
Hello Baby or Fresh 48 is to celebrate the birth of your baby. This part of welcoming your baby earth side is a little different than capturing their birth. Your baby is here and we capture those first few latches or bottle feeds, sometimes we include meeting close family or siblings, but the cutest is capturing those sweet tiny details of your baby. I use the natural light coming in from your window and we create magic. I love nursing and snuggles, the way that dads hands wrap around the back of babies head, and the quite moments of just soaking everything in. I help with gentle direction of moving into the light and sitting in the window seat, gathering everyone together for that picture to share with friends and family of their arrival, and I always love love love getting pictures of those tiny baby feet.

Besides baby feet, I love capturing baby in their bassinet at the hospital. Swaddled tight in the blankets you have handpicked with his matching hat or her matching bow melts me every time. I love to bring baby into the soft light of the window capturing all angles of their sweet little chunky face, the way their hands always manage to get out of that tight swaddle and rest on their body, or how much hair they have. Name tags or letter boards are a fun touch to the these show casing the date and time they were born, or the name you chose for them and kept a secret for what feels like forever.
Details are still very important to tell the story of their arrival. Like in births, I feel like details of what hospital you were at, the weather and the season complete the details. If you have older children coming to the hospital or coming home to meet their sibling after your home birth, I love following them. They show their emotions on the outside the way they cling to the door way or to dad as he helps walk them in. The joy in their little faces as they present their present to baby sister or brother that they have kept safe for weeks or months. Or when they crawl up in moms lap, stretch out their arms and cradle baby for the first time.
